Canon Abilities: Lots of stabbing, and different ways to stab. And some things that IDK if they technically count as magic, they're just shit that the rogue class can do in-game. Like her dual weapon, subterfuge, scoundrel abilities
Inventory: OH GOD SO MUCH SHIT because Hawke picks up everything. Her armor, a few sets of daggers, accessories, potions, poisons, books, gold, crafting items, and assorted odds and ends.

🦋 Personality

1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?
It’s really hard to not believe in magic at all when both your dad and your sister are highly magical. It’s caused no end of trouble for their family because her father was, and her sister is an apostate. So when Bethany’s magic manifested at age nine they had to move. But Hawke loved her father and she loves her sister, and she wouldn’t change a thing about either of them. (She always was closer to her father than she was her mother.) She sometimes has complicated feelings about magic, though, because her sister ends up in the Circle of Magi while Hawke is away on an expedition into the Deep Roads. It also plays into her feeling like she should have BEEN there, that if she’d been there maybe she could have stopped it from happening. She’s the protector of her family, and that doesn’t change just because one of her siblings is magical. (And the other one is DEAD, but that’s neither here nor there.)

2. What mythological creature would your character most like to be? Which do they identify with? Which would they dread being? Feel free to use our Bestiary for reference.
A dragon. Hawke would like to be a dragon. Sure, Flemeth told her she could never be a dragon, but she’s never let that stop her and that wouldnt change the fact that she would absolutely 1000% be a dragon. She would absolutely be a hazard as a dragon, too. (Would Kirkwall remain standing if she was a dragon? Jury’s out on that one.) The one she would most identify with? Honestly, at her current canon point it would probably be a banshee. And not in a good way. Because she feels like she’s a fucking portent of death. First her brother, then her mother. And she couldn’t stop either. No matter how much she wanted to. Otherwise, perhaps a firebird. Gold feathers and a love of apples? Count her in. She would dread being a banshee. Because even though she might identify with one, and thinks she is one, actually BEING one would just feed into her aforementioned beliefs.

3. If your character could ask for one wish, and it's going to be magically granted without any consequence, what will it be and why?
Just give her her family back. If she could wish for anything and have it be granted with no consequences, that would be her only wish. Give EVERYONE back to her. Her father, her brother, her mother. That’s all she wants. She’s done so much to try and better their lives, to protect them, and she’s losing them one by one. At her canon point she’s pretty much just lost her mother and it’s the last in a long series of losses. And it’s absolutely destroying her. Because she feels like she should have done something more. Done something better. Gotten there faster.

She’s felt like her mother blamed her for the loss of her brother, her sister being taken to the Kirkwall Circle. And now she’s taking on the weight of blaming herself now that her mother’s gone. She would happily take the blame forever, though. If only Leandra was alive again. If only they were all alive again. If her family was back together again.

4. What song would a siren sing to your character to lure them closer? Why?
I don’t know if there’s a particular SONG, exactly, that a siren could sing to draw her in, but a tavern song from the Hanged Man might do it. Something familiar. Something she KNOWS like the back of her hand. Some tavern song she’s spent evenings drinking with Varric to, background noise to their conversation and laughter. And if it sounded like Varric himself was the one singing it, it would only make it worse. More likely to draw her in.

Or it could even sound like her sister. Or her mother. Or father. One of the two of them (or BOTH of them) singing one of the lullabies they used to sing to her to sleep with when Hawke was a child. Before Malcolm died. Before they had to move to Lothering. Before they had to flee the Blight. Before she lost so much. Before everything changed.

It would break Hawke’s heart resisting any of those.

5. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.
Varric. It would one hundred percent be Varric. He’s just… He’s her nearest and dearest friend, one of the few people she trusts without hesitation and without fear. He’s been there for her. Had her back. He helped her when he didn’t have to. When he could have just left her there, trying to find a way to earn the funds she needs to care for her family. He’s earned her trust a thousand times over since that first meeting, and if he asked her to go with him to another realm, she would. Without hesitation. He’s her family. As much as Bethany is.

She would follow Bethany to another realm, too, but for very different reasons. That’s her sister. Her LITTLE SISTER. She would never let her little sister go to another realm on her own. She would never let her sister go to another realm without her. (That’s part of the reason why she hates that Bethany was taken to the Circle. She can’t go with her, there. And Hawke thinks she should have stopped it. Thinks she COULD have stopped it, had she only been in Kirkwall.)

6. If you'd like pixies to change one event in your character's life, what would it be and why?
There are so many moments that Hawke would like the pixies to change. Especially if there was no risk of repercussions. Choosing just one for her would be so hard. Changing things so that her father didn’t die? That he was there, when Bethany’s magic manifested so he could help teach her. Help protect her and keep her safe. That he was there when the Blight happened, when they had to flee Lothering for Kirkwall. She would want nothing more.

Except for her brother to not die at the hands of the Ogre, as they fled Lothering. So that he could be there, as they made their way to their mother’s home? As they worked their way up in Kirkwall? So that he could be there with their mother, their sister? She would want nothing more.

Except for her mother to be alive. To have never drawn Quentin’s attention, to have never been taken and murdered and used in some sick magical experiment. She would want nothing more.

Any of them would change so much. Any of them would mean so much to Hawke.

7. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?
Hawke’s most outstanding personality trait is… well Hawke is absolutely a stubborn little shit. She is mostly blue, with a touch of purple, and red when it’s called for diplomatic, most of the time, but that doesn’t stop her stubbornness. Just because she tries to talk things out first doesn’t mean she’s weak-willed. Doesn’t mean she won’t stab a person. It also doesn’t mean she’s not a mouthy little shit at times, either.

She absolutely refuses to give up.

Even when the world throws absolutely everything at her. Fleeing the Blight, losing her brother, having to flee to Kirkwall, being basically sold into indentured servitude to work off debts. She keeps going. She forces herself to keep going. Even when she doesn’t want to, sometimes. Like after the loss of her mother. Fighting the Arishok. Things still need to be done. So she can’t just give up. She can’t back down. She just digs in her heels, mouths off, and keeps going.

8. Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?
Hawke would lose her ever loving MIND, if she came back to Thedas and discovered that she’d been gone for hundreds of years. She would absolutely go fucking FERAL in her grief and rage. She’s already lost three members of her family. To learn that she’s lost Bethany? That she’s lost Bethany to TIME? That she’s lost Varric, and Fenris, and Merrill? Oh, that would absolutely break her. It would feel like her heart was ripped out of her chest and burnt to embers.

To lose so many people that she loves, and be in a world she doesn’t KNOW anymore? She would be lost. She would search for knowledge of everyone she knew, what happened to them, where they last were, and she would find their final resting places. She would learn what Thedas is like, now. And she would fling herself headlong into finding trouble. Dangerously, desperately reckless. Working odd jobs for gold, theft and robbery. She just… wouldn’t care anymore. Unless by some chance she discovered that someone she knew had left family behind. Then she would fling herself into the job of protecting them.
